The structure begins with the saxophone, not the singer. 0:28-0:54 - The first verse stages the mistake

0:54-1:16 - The chorus turns dancing into judgment

The chorus at 0:54 is the first full conversion. The singer says he will not dance again, while the form keeps offering a clean, frictionless pocket. That contradiction is the section's work. 1:31-2:18 - Consequence returns with the same smoothness

The second verse at 1:31 moves from scene to consequence: time, careless betrayal, truth, and pain. When the chorus returns at 1:56, the structure has not ruptured. It repeats with more knowledge. The same smooth form now sounds less like seduction and more like the punishment continuing politely.

2:46-3:10 - The public room presses in

At 2:46, the bridge widens the song by bringing the crowd back into the confession. The fantasy is private, but the music remains too loud and the room remains present. By 3:04, the question about who will dance with him now turns the form inward: the song has built a floor, then shown the singer alone on it.

3:12-4:18 - Return as afterimage

The final chorus and late fragments do not create a new argument. They return the same sentence after the listener has learned what it costs. At 3:50, the repeated absence phrases and saxophone return behave like afterimages. The structure ends by letting the opening public face come back carrying the full confession.
